AJ2010 is now less than ten months away - some have been busy for AJ2010 for quite a while, others are just warming up.
So what's the big picture?
-When and where - the Jamboree is at Cataract Scout Park, on the outskirts of Sydney, from 4 - 15 January 2010 -How many attend -believe or not it's more than 12,000 people, the size of a good sized town -How does everyone get looked after -in Jamboree troops with a leader team, leaders you know, an ACT Contingent team, and hundreds of others in various support roles.
-What happens -activities by day - some at the Jamboree others offsite, activities by night, fun, growing up, learning
-How much does it cost -$1140 for Scouts, $830 for Venturers, $800 for Leaders & other adults -Who's it for -registered and qualified* Scouts, Venturers older than 16th birthday, warranted Leaders, and other approved adults
So what's important in the weeks ahead?
-It is time to apply, so get onto the Website http://scoutsaj2010.com/ -- there is a contingents link where you will find supporting information for those from the ACT -- there is an applications process to follow including adding a digital photo, and it needs to be complete before you can print it and then get parents to sign it.
-- you can do some, save it, and come back to it later -- when printed and signed it needs to be given to a Scouts regular Scout Leader -The date for applications is 31 March, so get it done before the end of the school term and Easter -A deposit is required up front, $300 (a great use for some of the stimulus package) - There is a payment schedule through the year, about every two months, check the ACT info sheet on the Website - Variations to the payment schedule can be accommdated for the later payments - Invite others in your troop to attend so you can have a great Jamboree troop - Do normal activities to be qualified, and remember younger Scouts who might need a hand.
Still not sure?
-Talk to your Scout Leader -Send an email to - scout.commissioner@act.scouts.asn.au - and you'll get a reply within a few days -Invite someone who knows about Jamborees to visit your troop. It could be someone who was a Scout at the last one, or someone from the ACT Contingent team.
